A  Blue Star, an a to z poem

A star looked at me
with a twinkle in its eye
Blue star it was
and I know why
Cheeky are blue stars
and they are real hot
During the day
they like to sleep a lot
Evening comes but
they are slow to get up
For all through the night
they shine and stand up
Gathered in groups
scattered in the sky
Heavens glitter
and we all know why
It is an endless fire
that keeps burning
Jewels shoot out that
stars keep emitting
Knights of the sky
with armours shinning
Look like specks of light
and ever gleaming
Millions of stars
are out in the sky
No, you can’t see all
with a naked eye
Oh! Beautiful are stars
on a moonless night
Pure joy they are
and night after night
Quaint are the stars
like magical lights
Rarely are they sad
even on cloudy nights
Shinning like pearls
on a clear black sky
They love to twinkle
in twinkling of an eye
Umpteen times
I have wanted a star
Vainly I have tried to
catch a shooting star
What you see in my hand
papa got it from a mall
Xmas star it is
and it is brightest of all
Yes, I love blue stars
shinning in the sky
Zany you think I am
and I know why.

Spots on the Moon
Have you heard of
King Jeorje West, the Fat
(Poor fellow was
actually thin and not fat)
He ruled when
two big continents were one
And moon up there
had dark spots but none
King Jeorje West, the Fat
was truly a great king
And what prosperity
in the country did he bring
But this king who wasn’t fat
had one little failing
It  would one day leave
his dear ones wailing
He was fond of
sorcery and magic
And for this
his end was to be tragic
King Jeorje etc wanted to be
the lord of all seas and land
And he disliked those
who dared to stand
He kept on waging
wars on all kings
He would often shout,
‘I will rule all earth and things’
But there was a king
who was weakling but clever
He wanted to rule
his country and for ever
He was scared of
King Jeorje West, the Fat
He always felt like a mouse
chased by a wild cat
But the clever king was friendly
with weird magic men
And they had helped him
now and then
They gave him some
magic potions and wands
He came to King Jeorje etc
and with  fancy bands
He bowed respectfully
as if he was full of deep devotion
And offered him all
magic wands and potions
‘My Lord,’ said he,
‘mercy, pray spare my crown
And accept these things
that are of magic renown’
King Jeorje West, the Fat
was fond of magic
Not knowing that
it could some day turn tragic
He took the magic wands
and potions warmly
He knew he would use them
all very calmly
He would turn
unconquered kings into rats
And eat them all
turning into a big wild cat
But the king who was
weakling and clever
And who wanted to rule
his country for ever
Had deviously tricked
King Jeorje West, the Fat
With treacherous potions
and wands and all that
King Jeorje etc
was but a fool
And he acted
just like a stupid mule
He tried some gifted magic
on a pleasant  night
When everyone was asleep
and the moon was bright
The magic worked truly
but what a shocker it was
He turned real fat
and without a pause
He was flying in the sky
like a bloated balloon
He  went up and up and
straight to the moon
In twinkling of an eye
he landed there
Of course he didn’t know
he had landed where
That day onwards
people saw spots on the moon
It’s King Jeorje etc (unusually fat)
stuck up there like a buffoon.

shoes of glass
a frog looked
at a little fairy
she felt the frog
was quite scary

but he was one
who was in love
with one he liked
to call 'my dove'

she was of course
not any bird
she was a she-frog
and she was curt

 she had said
‘i will only agree
to be your wife
 in days three

if you bring me
shoes of glass
for i want to be
one of a class’

‘little fairy
would it please you
to grant me a wish
and quickly too

i need two pairs of
shoes of glass
for a dear one
hiding in  the grass’

now little fairy
felt it was strange
but she chose to
help just for a change

she chanted some
funny magic words
the words sounded
like chirping of birds

 four glass shoes
appeared out nowhere
and in the sunlight
they did brightly glare

the frog saw shoes
and jumped in joy
all he could say was
‘oh boy, oh boy’

even for a moment
 he didn’t wait
and he kept saying
 'my mate, my mate'

he rushed and said
 no thanks to the fairy
‘one who can’t be fair
 won’t be treated fairly’

she-frog saw glass shoes
and smiled at him
with glass shoes on
she looked quite prim

 ‘now when shall we wed
 i no longer can wait’
‘oh! let me think,
i can’t say in a haste’

 she was proud of
her shoes of glass
and thought silly frog
was not his class

she felt she was
now like a queen
and would wed
 one of royal mien.

‘well, i think
i can’t wed you
who i would marry
i have no clue’

 a frog was sad
and looked at the fairy
she knew poor fellow
wasn’t treated fairly

Rainbow
A little boy saw
a little star
he thinks ‘ It can’t be
quite that  far’,
he wished if
he had a tall stair
he would love to
go up there,
‘Where can I get
a stair just one,’
he looked around
but found none,
he began to cry
and loudly shout
but his mama was
nowhere about,
now it happened
that a tiny fairy
was caught in spider net
and that was scary,
she was small
smaller than a fly
she loved to ride
a little butterfly,
she looked around
for help she cried
little boy saw her
and his tears dried,
"Hurry and help me
before I get killed
your one wish
I will have fulfilled”
at the trapped fairy
did little boy look
spider’s net then
he wildly shook,
the nasty spider
could do no harm
what little boy did
had worked like charm,
little fairy got free
from the trap
in sheer joy
did little boy clap,
“Well, well you are
a nice little boy
but were you crying
to get some toy?”
“Little fairy, toys are
of course real fun
but I wish I could go
to a star anyone”
fairy looked at stars
in the evening light
while she pondered
the boy stood quiet
“What you need is a bridge
from earth to sky
let me do something”
and she said goodbye,
one day little boy was
teasing his mother
when little fairy came
along with another.
“You will have to rush
if you want to go to a star
we have built a bridge
and it’s a bit far”,
the boy rushed out
and looked around
there was a  bridge
and it was round,
colours were streaming
across the sky
like a shining arch
and it was really high,
but he could not
see any star
what fun it would be
to go that far,
he felt he would wait
till stars come
but when stars came
he was glum,
bridge had vanished
and Sun had set
stars were shining
and the boy could only fret.

A Beautiful Sunny Day

On a beautiful sunny day
not far from a  curved bay,
where land turns into a swamp,
on a log that looked like ramp
was reclining Mr Frog,
for he loved  morning air sans smog.
His belly was full of little snails
and small fish and their tails.
He closed his eyes to take a nap
but was startled by a sudden splash.
He glared with anger in each eye
and saw Mr Crocodile floating nearby.
Mr Crocodile was trying to climb the log;
he too was fond of air sans smog,
and loved to sleep in the morning Sun,
sleeping soundly was nothing but fun.
Mr Crocodile was as polite as he could be
“Froggy, get up and quickly flee.”
Now we know Mr Frog was very proud
he was not one who would get cowed.
He too was as polite as he could be
"Crocky, get lost or I’ll break your knee.”
Mr Crocodile looked a bit amused;
he couldn’t believe Mr Frog had refused
to run and make place for him;
things were about to turn grim.
“Froggy, do you really want to fight,
wonder what’s going to be your plight”
“Crocky, don’t you think I aren’t brave
many a fool I have sent to the grave.”
But snooty Mr Frog was not at all aware,
a red-tailed hawk was present there;
The hawk dived when his time came,
Mr Frog had himself to blame;
for he was about to become a tasty meal
of a hungry hawk with claws of steel.
But Mr Crocodile  took pity on the frog
he quietly pushed the wooden log;
the hawk fumbled which he rarely did
and he failed to catch Mr Frog indeed.
Mr Frog was one who missed a beat
and his heart began to widely tweet.
Mr Crocodile had done him a kind deed
and saved him from becoming hawk-feed.
The hawk knew he had lost his chance
and he left quickly even without a glance.
Mr Frog looked at Mr Crocodile but felt shy,
he was sorry and we all know why.

A Little Silly Frog-2

There was a little silly frog
he just loved to sprawl on a log
he did have a home sweet home
it was really a mansion with a dome
but at home he was never at ease
for half the time he was on his knees
he wished to relax but didn’t dare
his wife loved to ceaselessly blare
she would ask him to take a broom
and to quickly sweep every room
and then he had to cook the meal
and she loved only well-cooked veal
he would then run to laundry and store
and keep saying he loved every chore
and if ever the wife felt upbeat
she would let him touch her feet
you would think that she was a bully
but she said she loved him truly
silly frog was scared of her love
and wished she would act like a dove
it was great fun to lie on the log
and not to slave, sweat and slog
but he could never leave his home
and he could rarely wander and roam.

A Silly Little Frog

a silly little frog
was lying on a log
he was sad and glum
he was the unlucky one
he was getting married
but that made him worried
the bride was a bully
and she loved him truly
but the frog was scared
for the bride hadn’t spared
her earlier bride grooms
who were left in the rooms
with some broken legs
and bumps on their heads
the last one got roasted
when he had boasted
that he would beat her
if she did not call him ‘Sir’
the bride lost her cool
she put him on a stool
and looked him in his eyes
everyone heard his cries
but she acted like a dove
for she was in love
with a silly little frog
who was lying on a log
worrying how it would end
for he couldn’t pretend
that he could  love
a bully acting like a dove.

Happy New Year
It was New Year eve
Santa Claus could not believe,
how could he sleep through the week
even if winter was at its peak.

He tried but couldn’t recall,
‘What happened to gifts and all?
Did I go out on Christmas Eve?
Or did I choose to remain on leave?

I think I hadn’t been feeling well
and my belly had begun to swell,
I think I had been to a doctor
who was more like a monster.

Doctor had given me a white pill
and asked me to avoid this chill,
did I take that white pill and
did I sleep to my heart’s fill?’

Slowly Santa Claus went around
but reindeer etc. couldn’t be found,
there were no gifts on the shelves,
‘Where are my reindeer and elves?’

Then he saw Rudolph and one elf
somewhere clock struck twelve,
suddenly everything was lit bright
he saw them all dressed for night.

‘What of gifts?’ he asked in hurry,
‘Relax, what is there to worry?
You were out of sorts needing rest
we did what we thought was best,

we delivered all the gifts and toys
to pretty girls and naughty boys.
What if you missed trip this year
you have done it year after year.

It is beginning of a new year
let’s be grateful for being here
let’s all celebrate the New Year
Happy New Year, Happy New Year.’

Christmas Eve
It was Christmas Eve
Santa Claus was on leave,
he was hearing noises
 he knew had no choices.

He went to consult a doc
who would strut like a cock,
doc was somewhat crazy
 his advice was always hazy.

Doc peered and pondered
he mused and wondered,
 “It is surely very smelly
deep down in your belly.”

“Your belly has lost its poise
and it is making a noise,
you will have to go on leave
even if it is Christmas Eve.”

“If you choose to ignore it
then be ready to face it,
 noises can do their worst
 your big belly can burst.”

“What you need is a white pill
and avoid this wintery chill,
light a  fire in your room
you can’t go out, I assume.”

For Santa it was a  blow
he had given gifts all years,
he had not missed to do so
even once in many years.

Then stomach made a big noise
he thought it would be wise,
to go by crazy doc’s advice
not to go out till he felt nice.

But what of tears in tiny eyes
and kids waiting for surprise,
on this year’s Christmas Eve
it was sad to be on leave.

When gifts had been wrapped
and all were neatly packed,
it was all set for yearly trip
he wished he wouldn’t skip.

Suddenly and loudly Santa belched
 noise in stomach was squelched,
in a jiffy he felt happy like a lark
quickly he set sleigh on the mark.

He was already very very late
he didn’t want children to wait,
Christmas Eve was about to end
all gifts were delivered in the end.

Best friend
Little Zayn
was a little sad,
there was a boy
who was real bad.
Bad boy was one
who liked to pretend,
that he was Zayn’s
 bestest  friend.
Little Zayn knew
 it wasn’t true,
 what he could do
he had no clue.
Bad boy would often
steal his lunch,
or tear his books
or beat with a bunch
Little Zayn was one
who didn’t lose heart,
he knew he had to
learn to thwart.
Little Zayn caught a
lizard green,
he put it in a box
full of chow mein.
Chow mein was what
bad boy loved to eat,
he couldn’t refuse
such a tasty treat.
He snatched the box
from Little Zayn,
and pulled his nose
in front of everyone.
But this time Zayn
would not cry,
and there were
no tears in his eye.
But what a fool
was the bad boy,
he saw chow mein
and jumped with joy.
He stuffed chow mein
like a hungry pig,
and then like a fool
he did a dancing jig.
But he had not seen
the lizard green,
he gorged it along
with chow mein.
And he jumped and
shouted like a prig
when in his belly
lizard did a jig.
Little Zayn
is no longer sad
there is a boy
who is no longer bad.
